How to Make a Habit Out of Creativity

At the start of a new year, many find themselves setting resolutions for the year ahead that will make them happier, healthier, and a better version of themselves. The range of resolutions is endless: from going for daily walks, spending quality time with family, reducing screen time, and so much more, the new year provides an opportunity to start fresh.
If you’re anything like us, you might want to spend more time in 2026 on creative pursuits. Whether you’re picking up a new hobby, returning to an old one, or focusing on honing a craft, there is always room for bringing creativity in your life. If you’re unsure how to meet your goal—or are struggling to set one in the first place—making it a part of your daily life is a good place to start. Thankfully, NPR compiled some tips and tricks to make it easier to make creativity a habit. From letting go of expectations to designating a time specifically to create, treating creativity like your other resolutions is easier than it seems.
